This week we enjoyed diving Belongas with Margie, how was on her very first journey to Lombok and together with her friends from Thailand, Margie and her buddies are extremely competent with a huge number of dives between all of them and good, as while diving “The Magnet” we experienced a few quite powerful currents however not anything we couldn't not cope with, What an incredible dive it absolutely was! We spotted 4 hammerheads, a huge school of barracudas, 11 white tip sharks, a hand full of sea snakes together with lots more swimming around,
A number of you might not realize that scuba diving Belongas in fact also holds quite a bit of fantastic macro life, rather than just for the big stuff. For example, while diving Belongas Bay in the recent past we discovered harlequin shrimp, frogfish, flying gurnard, hairy octopus, cuttle fish and quite a lot more cool critters and creatures.

Scuba Diving Lombok is not exclusive to the professionals
Scuba Diving Lombok, Indonesia has a long history of beautiful marine life and picturesque shores. It is an island that is located next to Bali, although not as renowned in the world. The marine life while scuba diving Belongas Bay is amazing as you will find an abundance of tunas, barracudas and other pelagic life in our waters. Further Belongas Bay dive sites within the bay such as Gili Sarang and The Magnet are particular hosts to vast marine life. Around the time of September, in the Gili Sarang area you will be able to sight the mobula and eagle ray. In the months of May till September, the hammerhead sharks are known to be present while scuba diving “The Magnet”.
Scuba diving “The Manget” and “The Cathedral” are two of the challenging sites while scuba diving Belongas Bay and are recommended to experienced scuba divers. However, Scuba Diving Belongas Bay will let you dive in the lesser challenging but more amateur friendly scuba diving sites as well, but this is only possible if you dive Belongas during May/April or in October.
As with any legitimate and professional scuba diving service, there are some minimum prerequisites that for scuba diving Belongas Bay. Firstly, there is a minimum requirement of two divers – single individuals cannot take part in these activities, you are required to come in pairs or as a group of more than 2. Each diver has with them, a log book to check in all the dives that they have participated in over a year. From June till the end of October, as there are extremely challenging conditions in these waters – the scuba divers must have completed a minimum of a hundred logged dives. These rules are made for the safety of every individual as we are able to effectively gauge their level of expertise. For the months outside of this specified time period, a minimum of fifty logged dives need to be shown. Before going forward with the dive, everyone is required to have the right gear and accessories. Your own dive computer and a surface marker are a requirement and divers who wish to participate but do not have their own gear can rent these devices from us. Apart from that, divers are recommended to wear a reef hook and gloves and there is absolutely no accommodation for non-diving personnel and snorkelers on any dive boat.

Challenging first-class scuba scuba diving - "The Magnet"
Without doubt one of the locations which most sets scuba diving the southeast coast of Lombok apart from Bali, Gili Air, and Trawangan, is the breathtaking scuba dive destination in the southeast of the region, Belongas Bay. Scuba diving Belongas Bay you are able to find the legendary dive sites "The Magnet" and "The Cathedral”! They are two pinnacles in the open ocean that offer a scuba dive you will not likely forget about. The pinnacles ascend from a depth of about 50m and can be accessed in around 25 minutes from the mainland.
Whenever you scuba dive the Magnet the seasonable sighting of schooling hammerhead sharks, barracudas, tunas, along with other pelagic life is fairly constant, and if you find yourself wishing to scuba dive with big fish action, this is the location to be! Aside from the mobula- and also eagle ray season throughout September, hammerheads have got the inclination to school around the Magnet end June until early on November. Because of the existent rough environments, diving at "The Magnet" we suggest only to the more expert diver!
Gili Sarang
Several pinnacles and also exceptional boulders climb from a depth of around 35m and present striking, vibrant soft corals. Here as well, big fish action. Giant trevalies, mackerels, sweet lips, surgeon fish, white tips, black tips, and grey reef sharks. August/September is an excellent time of the year for schooling mobula- and eagle rays.
Blue Hole
A cave which has the point of entry at close to 17m, then after inside, opens up into a large dome fashioned cavern. According to the season and the swells, you can find, jacks, sweet lips, and surgeon fish having a break within this more sheltered area.
Soft Coral Garden
A string of small, soft coral covered, pinnacles starting in a depth of around 12m, and then going down to about 25m. Aside from a number of reef fish, here we’ve spotted Cownose rays, huge moray eels, along with the one or other eagle ray on his route to Gli Sarang.
